Technology development for the production of high-quality aquatic macrophyte biomass as a raw material base for the food industry and the biotechnology sector through simulation and overstimulation of species-specific hydrotopic conditions (ELPROM).
The aim of the project is to develop a production technology for the production of aquatic macrophyte biomass relevant to food and biotechnology. The innovative core of the technology is the development of macrophyte-specific growth surfaces (producer structure) and their integration into a production structure (HydroSim device) that is also to be developed. Equally innovative is the development of a method to change the process parameters in the production process in order to simulate and overstimulate the species-specific hydrotopic conditions, by means of which an enrichment of selected ingredients in the macrophyte biomass can be achieved. The macrophyte biomass enriched in this way with ingredients is to be processed using food technology in order to be able to be transferred into an innovative food to be developed. Essential criteria for the planned development of the technologies and the methodology are the growth pattern of the surfaces provided, the biomass yield and the quantity of the targeted ingredients in the macrophyte biomass, as well as the processing of the biomass into a final product that is gentle on the ingredients and preserves quality.
